What is Bingo?

Know Bingo? See How MyBingo Host assists.

Bingo is a game of chance which consists of a Host or Caller and a number of players who are issued bingo cards. The object of the game is to be the first player to match a prescribed pattern on your bingo card based on numbers called by the Host.

The Host is the controller of 75 numbered items that they will call randomly throughout the bingo game. Each number is associated with a letter from the word 'Bingo' in the following layout.

  • Numbers 1 to 15 are assigned the letter B.
  • Numbers 16 to 30 are assigned the letter I.
  • Numbers 31 to 45 are assigned the letter N.
  • Numbers 46 to 60 are assigned the letter G.
  • Numbers 61 to 75 are assigned the letter O.

The player possesses a Bingo card which consists of a grid of 5 columns and 5 rows where each grid location will contain a unique number. Each column is labeled for a letter from Bingo, where column 1 is “B”, column 2 is “I” and so on. The very center grid location, 3rd column (N) 3rd row is the free space. This location is assummed to be marked for all players.

  • The B column will contain 5 numbers from 1 to 15.
  • The I column will contain 5 numbers from 16 to 30.
  • The N column will contain 5 numbers from 31 to 45.
  • The G column will contain 5 numbers from 46 to 60.
  • The O column will contain 5 numbers from 61 to 75.

Before the game begins, the host will determine the pattern for the players to match on their cards.

The host will draw, at random, a number from the pool of 75 then announce the letter and number to the players. The number is then removed from the pool. The players will then search their card for the number and if it is on the card, they will mark it. The host will continue to draw and announce the numbers until a player matches the prescribed pattern and announces “Bingo” to win.

Once a player announces “Bingo” the Host will stop drawing numbers and verify the winning pattern on the card by checking the numbers marked in the prescribed pattern matches the numbers announced to this point. If the numbers under the pattern are part of the announced numbers the player is declared the winner and the host resets the game to repeat the process for the next game.
